Uganda Gorilla Trekking
Uganda gorilla trekking is one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences, offering visitors a rare chance to see endangered mountain gorillas in their natural environment. The activity takes place mainly in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in southwestern Uganda. These protected forests are home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.
The experience begins with an early morning briefing by park rangers, followed by a guided trek through dense rainforest in small groups. Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular and diverse wildlife destinations, located in the western part of the country between Lake Edward and Lake George. The park is known for its varied landscapes, which include open savannah, wetlands, forests, crater lakes, and the scenic Kazinga Channel, making it one of the most biologically rich areas in East Africa.
The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, large herds of elephants and buffaloes, and over 600 bird species, making it a paradise for bird lovers.
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is a compact but beautiful wildlife park located in western Uganda, close to the Kampala–Mbarara highway. It is known for its rolling savannah, acacia woodlands, and scenic lakes that support a variety of wildlife.
The park is famous for zebras, impalas, elands, and hippos, and it is one of the best places in Uganda for birdwatching. Lake Mburo also offers unique activities such as walking safaris, boat cruises, and cycling safaris, making it a relaxed and enjoyable stop on a Uganda safari.
Kidepo National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Uganda’s most remote and spectacular wildlife parks, located in the far northeastern corner of the country. Surrounded by rugged mountains and vast open plains, the park offers a true wilderness experience with breathtaking scenery.

Murchison Falls
Murchison Falls National Park, located in northwestern Uganda, is the country’s largest and one of its most spectacular parks. It is named after the Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and plunges into a stunning waterfall, creating a dramatic natural spectacle.
The park features a mix of savannah, woodland, and riverine habitats, making it rich in wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species. Visitors can enjoy game drives, boat cruises along the Nile to the base of the falls, and nature walks, making Murchison Falls a must-visit destination for adventure, wildlife, and scenic beauty.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Uganda’s most famous and breathtaking parks, located in the southwestern part of the country. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is renowned for being home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it a top destination for gorilla trekking.
The park is covered in dense, misty rainforest, with steep hills, valleys, and rivers, creating a rich habitat for a wide variety of wildlife and over 350 bird species. Trekking through Bwindi’s forest to see gorillas is both challenging and rewarding, offering visitors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Beyond gorillas, the park is home to primates, elephants, and diverse plant life, making it a must-visit for wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Entebbe/Kampala
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you are met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight rest. Prepare for the adventure ahead and enjoy a briefing about your safari.
Day 2 – Kampala/Entebbe → Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, depart early for Bwindi in southwestern Uganda, passing scenic hills, tea plantations, and local villages. Arrive at your lodge in Buhoma, Rushaga, or Nkuringo in the afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy dinner before the gorilla trek the next day.
Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Begin early with a briefing at the park headquarters before trekking through dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take 1–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Spend one unforgettable hour observing and photographing the gorillas in their natural habitat before returning to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 4 – Bwindi → Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, drive north to Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopping for lunch en route. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the park’s savannah and wetlands, where you may see elephants, lions, buffaloes, and tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Overnight at a lodge within the park.
Day 5 – Queen Elizabeth National Park / Kazinga Channel Cruise
Spend the morning on a game drive exploring different parts of the park, then enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species are easily spotted. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – Queen Elizabeth → Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, drive east to Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive to spot zebras, impalas, elands, and hippos. Optional activities include a boat cruise on Lake Mburo or a guided walking safari. Overnight in the park.
Day 7 – Lake Mburo → Kidepo Valley National Park
Start early for a long scenic drive to Kidepo Valley National Park in northeastern Uganda. Pass through rural villages and remote landscapes before arriving at your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight. This park is one of Uganda’s most remote and pristine wilderness areas.
Day 8 – Kidepo Valley National Park
Spend a full day exploring Kidepo with morning and afternoon game drives. Look for unique species such as cheetahs, ostriches, elephants, and large buffalo herds, while enjoying dramatic views of mountains and savannah. Overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 9 – Kidepo → Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, transfer southwest toward Murchison Falls National Park, passing through northern Uganda’s beautiful countryside. Arrive at your lodge or camp in the afternoon, with optional relaxation or a short game drive before dinner.
Day 10 – Murchison Falls & Departure
Start the day with a game drive in the park, followed by a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Witness the powerful falls and enjoy wildlife spotting along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge for lunch, then drive back to Entebbe or Kampala for departure, concluding the safari.
