This full-day tour combines two of Zanzibar’s most delightful experiences: a guided tour of a local spice farm and an unforgettable horse riding adventure along the beach. MORNING : Spice Farm Tour
Your day begins with a morning hotel pickup, usually around 8:30 AM, followed by a scenic drive to one of Zanzibar’s lush spice plantations, located in areas like Kizimbani or Kiembe Samaki. On arrival, a local guide will take you on a fascinating walking tour through the spice farm, where you’ll discover, smell, and taste a variety of spices that have made Zanzibar famous such as cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and turmeric. You’ll also learn how these spices are grown, harvested, and used in both local cuisine and traditional medicine. The tour includes engaging demonstrations from local workers, like tree climbing and weaving palm leaf accessories. Tropical fruits and herbal teas will also be available for sampling, giving you a complete sensory experience.
MIDDAY BREAK (OPTIONAL LUNCH)
After the spice tour, you’ll have the option to enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch prepared with the same spices you’ve just explored. This meal is usually served in a peaceful garden setting at the farm, featuring coconut rice, spiced vegetables, curry, and grilled fish or chicken. It’s a perfect way to relax, savor authentic flavors, and recharge before the next adventure. If you prefer, you can also opt to skip lunch at the farm and head directly to the next activity.
AFTERNOON : Horse Riding Adventure
In the early afternoon, you’ll transfer to one of Zanzibar’s premier horse-riding centers, typically located in Nungwi (north coast) or Paje (southeast coast), depending on your accommodation and preferences. After a short briefing and introduction to your horse, you’ll set off on a picturesque ride along the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced rider, the professional guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. You may ride through coconut groves, along beach trails, or even into the shallow ocean surf, creating a magical and memorable moment.
For those who want a romantic twist, a sunset ride can be arranged. Starting around 5:00 PM, you’ll ride as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, casting golden hues across the ocean and beach a stunning finale to a perfect day. After the ride, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel, arriving around 6:30 or 7:00 PM, depending on your location.
