Día a día

1. Day 1

   Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa

   Register at the gate and take a gentle first walk through montane rainforest to Big Tree Camp at 2,650m.

2. Day 2

   Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1

   Climb out of the forest onto open moorland, crossing streams and ridges to the edge of the Shira Plateau.

3. Day 3

   Shira 1 to Shira 2

   A gentle day across the plateau with optional side walks for acclimatisation and huge views of Kibo.

4. Day 4

   Shira 2 to Barranco

   Ascend past the 4,600m Lava Tower, the key acclimatisation moment, then descend into the Barranco Valley to sleep low.

5. Day 5

   Acclimatisation day at Barranco

   Rest and explore around Barranco Camp, the favourite camp of most trekkers, letting your body adapt.

6. Day 6

   Barranco Wall to Karanga

   Scramble the famous Barranco Wall after breakfast and traverse into the Karanga Valley.

7. Day 7

   Karanga to Barafu

   Complete the South Circuit to base camp at Barafu, with an early dinner and a few hours of sleep before the push.

8. Day 8

   Summit day

   Away by midnight to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895m around sunrise, then the long happy descent to Mweka Camp.

9. Day 9

   Descend to Mweka Gate

   A final forest walk to the gate for summit certificates and the drive back to your hotel.
