Jour par jour

  1. Day 1

    Machame Gate to Machame Camp

    Trek through dense rainforest from 1,811m up to camp at 3,021m.

  2. Day 2

    Machame to Shira Camp

    Climb steeply out of the forest and across moorland to the Shira Plateau at 3,839m.

  3. Day 3

    Via Lava Tower to Barranco

    Ascend to the Lava Tower for acclimatisation, then drop into the Barranco Valley to sleep at 3,986m.

  4. Day 4

    Barranco Wall to Karanga

    Scramble the Barranco Wall and traverse ridgelines to Karanga Camp at 4,034m.

  5. Day 5

    Karanga to Barafu

    Complete the South Circuit to base camp at 4,662m and rest before the summit push.

  6. Day 6

    Summit day

    A midnight start to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, then descend all the way to Mweka Camp at 3,106m.

  7. Day 7

    Mweka Gate

    Final descent through the forest to the gate at 1,633m and return to Moshi.
