Jour par jour

  1. Day 1

    Marangu Gate to Mandara Huts

    A rainforest trek from 1,905m to the Mandara Huts at 2,723m, watching for colobus monkeys on the way.

  2. Day 2

    Mandara to Horombo Huts

    Climb through heathland and moorland to 3,721m with views of the jagged Mawenzi Peak.

  3. Day 3

    Acclimatisation at Horombo

    A rest day with an optional excursion towards Mawenzi base camp to climb high and sleep low.

  4. Day 4

    Horombo to Kibo Huts

    Cross the lunar saddle between the two peaks through semi-desert to reach 4,714m.

  5. Day 5

    Summit and descend

    A midnight start to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m for sunrise, then descend all the way back to Horombo.

  6. Day 6

    Marangu Gate

    Final descent through the forest to the gate, summit certificates in hand, and transfer to Moshi.
